In this guide, we’ll explore various transportation methods available for you to choose from, ensuring you find one that fits your schedule and budget. Let’s get you on your way to enjoying the stunning beaches, coastlines, and rich culture Lagos offers.
Best Ways To Travel From Faro Airport to Lagos
1. Private Transfer – Yellowfish
2. Taxi
3. Ride Sharing Apps
4. Public Transport Options
5. Car Rental
1. Private Transfer: 50 to 60 minutes – $80
Pre-booking a private transfer is the best and most straightforward method of getting to your vacation rental in Lagos. Unfortunately, it is also pricey but not the most expensive option. That honor is reserved for taxis …
I’ve used several options over the years, and the only company I recommend is Yellowfish. They are the best option, as they have a fleet of vehicles and reliable and professional drivers. They will be at Faro Airport waiting in the arrivals section with your name on a sign or in bold lettering on their mobile device.
As you leave the baggage collection area and head towards the exit, look for all the Yellowfish and other operators lining the way out—you literally have to walk right past them, so you don’t have to be concerned with finding them.
2. Taxi – 50 to 60 minutes – €70 to €120
Once you have passed through customs, picked up your baggage, and exited the terminal, taxis will be waiting outside.
The cost is approximately €100 to €120 and takes 50 to 60 minutes.
3. Ride-Sharing Apps: Uber/Bolt – 50 to 60 minutes – from €65
If you have an Uber or Bolt account, you won’t have too much trouble in getting a ride, depending on demand of course. The cost can vary, and you can expect to pay upwards of €65.
4. Public Transport
I’m sad to report there are no reliable bus services leaving Faro Airport for Lagos. There is an Aerobus (Route 56). However, there are only 5 or 6 services per day and only from May 1 to October 31. You can check out the Aerobus schedule here.
Another option is Bus 16 to Faro Bus Station (150m from Faro Train Station) and then the train to Lagos Train Station. This 2-carriage, very basic, old train stops at all stations. Again, these options (bus and train) may not fit into your schedule as the services run infrequently. Your best bet is to hire a taxi, Uber, or Bolt to go to the Faro Train Station and catch the train to Lagos. The Algarve Train Timetable is here.
5. Car Rental
Faro Airport has several car rental companies, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, and Enterprise. Pre-booking is recommended, especially during the high season. You will find that all the larger car rental firms have desks in the arrivals hall. The secondary firms are based outside the terminal in the P4 parking zone.
Choosing the right transportation option from Faro Airport to Lagos can greatly enhance your travel experience. Whether you prefer the convenience of a private transfer with Yellowfish, the simplicity of hailing a taxi, the modern ease of using ride-sharing apps, the affordability of public transport, or the freedom of a car rental, there’s a solution to suit every traveler’s needs. Each option offers its own benefits, allowing you to tailor your journey according to your preferences and budget. Whichever you choose, you’re well on your way to discovering the charms of Lagos.
